Online deals

▶ Watch — a quick walkthrough of online deals

Online deals (/online-deals) put a set of products on sale in your online store under one shareable link. Pick the products and choose each one's deal price: the item's wholesale price, or a special price you type. Then decide whether the sale applies only through the link or across your whole store. Each deal has its own report of the orders, customers, revenue, and profit it brings in.

Before you start

Where to find it

Create a deal

  1. Click New deal.
  2. Enter a Deal name, such as Spring Lighting Sale. The name also becomes the deal's link. Optionally, add a description to show on the deal page.
  3. Choose Where prices apply:
    • Deal link only (the default): the discount applies on the deal's own page and its checkout.
    • Store-wide while live: the sale price shows across your whole store, and you still get a shareable link.
  4. Choose Who sees deal prices:
    • Signed-in customers only (the default): shoppers sign in with a code sent to their email before deal prices show.
    • Anyone with the link: no sign-in needed.
  5. Optionally, set Starts and Ends dates and times. Leave the switch on Enabled.
  6. Under Products in this deal, search by name or SKU and pick the products to include.
  7. For each product, choose its price:
    • Wholesale (the default): the item's Wholesale Price. If the item has no wholesale price, it sells at retail.
    • Special price: type the price. Then choose which price shoppers see crossed out, Strike wholesale or Strike retail.
  8. Click Create deal.

Each product line shows its deal price, the discount customers see (such as -20%), and your profit margin at that price. Profit is for staff only; customers never see it.

In the list, click Copy in the Link column to copy the deal's link, or click the open icon to view the deal page. Share the link by email, text, or social media. You can also attach the deal to a Campaign Studio campaign, which adds the link to your message and tracks the sales it brings in.

WARNING

Renaming a deal changes its link, so any links you've already shared stop working.

Deal status

StatusWhat it means
ActiveSwitched on and within its dates. Deal prices apply.
ScheduledSwitched on, but the start date hasn't arrived yet.
EndedThe end date has passed.

Only an Active deal's page opens; for any other status, shoppers see This deal isn't available. Use the On switch in the list to turn a deal on or off.

See how a deal is doing

Click a deal's name, or its chart icon, to open its report:

  • Orders, including how many are paid
  • Customers
  • Revenue, with the number of units sold
  • Profit, for staff only. It's based on each item's current cost, and it's marked partial when some items have no cost.
  • Recent orders, each linking to the order

Cancelled orders are left out of the totals. Orders placed through a deal also show the deal's name on the order in Online orders.

How deal prices work with wholesale pricing

  • Through the deal's link, products in the deal are charged the deal price at checkout.
  • With Store-wide while live, the deal price shows across your store only when it's lower than the price that shopper already gets, so approved wholesale customers never see a higher price.
  • For a Signed-in customers only deal, checkout asks shoppers to sign in before the deal price applies.

Common questions

Q. A customer says the deal link doesn't work. A. The deal probably isn't Active. Check its On switch and its dates. If you renamed the deal, its link changed.

Q. Why is a product missing from the deal page? A. Only items set to sell online appear. Turn on Online store for the item. See Sell an item online.

Q. Customers don't see the discount. A. For a Signed-in customers only deal, shoppers need to sign in first. The deal page tells them Sign in to see this deal's special prices.

Q. Does a deal change my item prices? A. No. Your items keep their prices. The deal price applies only through the deal, or across your store while a store-wide deal is live.

Q. Do deals work at the counter? A. No. Online deals apply only in your online store.
