Campaign Studio
Campaign Studio (/campaign-studio) is where you send marketing campaigns to your customers by email and SMS. Write the message yourself or start from an AI draft, attach an offer, then send it now or schedule it. The offer can be an online deal link, a coupon code, or bonus loyalty points. Each campaign tracks its deliveries, replies, and the online orders and sales it brings in. The Automations tab holds always-on messages, such as a win-back for customers who haven't been in for a while.
Where to find it
Marketing → Campaign Studio in the sidebar.
Who can use it
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owners, Admins, Managers, Cashiers | Create, test, send, schedule, cancel, and resume campaigns, and set up automations. |
| Viewers | See campaigns, their results, and automations. |
Before you start
- Email campaigns use your store's sending settings under Setup → Email.
- SMS campaigns need your store's own verified text number and a Messaging plan: Starter ($49.99/month), Growth ($99.99/month), or Pro ($249.99/month).
- Email and SMS sends count toward your Messaging plan's monthly allowance. Usage beyond it is added to your next invoice. See Messaging plans.
- Start from an AI draft needs an AI plan.
NOTE
Campaign Studio sends email and SMS only. AI voice is shown as Coming soon and isn't available yet, and WhatsApp isn't offered. To phone a customer, use Messages.
Who receives a campaign
- Email goes to customers who have agreed to receive marketing email and have an email address on file. Anyone who unsubscribed is skipped automatically, and every campaign email includes an unsubscribe link.
- SMS goes to customers who have agreed to receive marketing texts and have a phone number on file. Shoppers opt in by ticking Text me offers and promotions when they create an account or check out in your online store. Agreeing to texts about an order doesn't count as agreeing to marketing texts.
Customers who reply STOP to your number stop receiving texts from it.
Create a campaign
Click New campaign.
Work through the six numbered steps:
Step What you do Basics Enter the Campaign name · email subject line, up to 200 characters. Email recipients see it as the subject line. Channels Choose Email, SMS, or both. Message Write the Message body, or describe the promotion under Start from an AI draft and click Write it for me, then edit the draft. One message is used for both the email and the text. Offer Optionally, attach a deal, a coupon, and bonus loyalty points. See Offers. Audience See how many customers you can reach by email. The SMS count is worked out when the campaign sends. Schedule Leave it empty to send right away, or pick a date and time. Quick picks: In 1 hour, Tomorrow 9 AM, and Saturday 10 AM. Check the list on the right. Red items must be fixed before you can send; amber items are warnings.
Click Send now (or Schedule campaign if you set a time), or click Save as draft to finish later.
The right-hand column also shows a summary and a preview of the email and the text.
Offers
- Promote an online deal adds the deal's link: a Shop the deal button in the email, and the link at the end of the text. Online orders placed through that link are credited to the campaign. Only deals that are switched on and haven't ended are listed. A deal that hasn't started yet is marked not live yet, and its link won't work until it starts.
- Attach a coupon / promotion adds Use code … at checkout. to the message. Only active promotions with a code are listed. Create them in Coupons & promotions.
- Bonus loyalty points adds Plus earn N bonus loyalty points on this order. to the message. Customers get the points when they pay for an online order placed through the campaign's deal link, so attach a deal too. Guest checkouts don't earn them.
SMS length and cost
- A text can be up to 320 characters. Anything longer is cut off, so you'll need to shorten it before you can send.
- A counter shows how many SMS segments each text uses. A segment holds about 160 characters, or 70 if the message has an emoji or another special character. Each segment is billed per recipient. A deal link adds about 100 characters.
- End marketing texts with Reply STOP to opt out. You'll see a warning if it's missing.
WARNING
The Send to list includes loyalty tiers (Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze), but tier targeting isn't applied yet. A campaign still goes to every opted-in customer, whichever tier you choose.
Test, send, and track
Click any campaign in the list to open it.
Send yourself a test
On a draft, enter your email address or mobile number under Send yourself a test first and click Send test. You receive the real message, including the subject, body, and deal link. Nothing is recorded against the campaign, but a test text is billed like any other text.
Edit or send a draft
Drafts are marked Draft — not sent yet in the list, with a Finish & send button. Open one to Edit its subject and message, then click Send now.
Results
Each campaign shows:
- Recipients, Delivered (with the delivery rate), Replies, Orders generated, and Attributed sales. Orders and sales count online orders placed through the campaign's deal link.
- A delivery bar showing how many were delivered, failed, suppressed (unsubscribed or previously bounced), and not sent, with a breakdown by channel.
- Recipients: each person with their channel and status. Filter or search the list, or click Export to download it as a CSV file.
- Responses: text replies from people who got the campaign.
If sending stops partway
A campaign can pause partway through, for example when your usage limit is reached. It then shows Sending paused with the reason. Fix the cause, then click Resume sending. Only people who haven't been messaged yet get it, so nobody hears from you twice.
Cancel a campaign
Click Cancel on a draft, scheduled, or sending campaign. Messages already delivered stay delivered, and the rest aren't sent.
Automations
The Automations tab holds messages that go out on their own once switched on:
| Automation | What it does | Setting |
|---|---|---|
| Win back lapsed customers | Reaches customers who haven't bought in a while. | No purchase in (days), 60 by default |
| Back in stock | Tells shoppers on an item's waitlist when it's back in stock. | None |
| Replenishment reminder | Reminds customers to reorder consumables. | Reorder after (days), 30 by default |
| Welcome new customers | Greets newly added customers. | Greet within (days), 2 by default |
To set one up:
- Open Campaign Studio and click the Automations tab.
- Switch on the automation you want.
- Choose EMAIL, SMS, or both, adjust the setting and the Message, and click Save.
Automations follow the same consent rules as campaigns. Abandoned cart and Birthday offer are marked Runner soon: you can save their settings, but they don't send yet.
Common questions

Q. What does a campaign cost? A. Sends count toward your Messaging plan's monthly allowance, and anything beyond it is added to your next invoice. AI drafts use your AI plan. See Payments & billing.
Q. I see "Sending paused." What now? A. Read the reason shown on the campaign, fix it, then click Resume sending. If you've reached your usage limit, sending resumes after your next invoice.
Q. Can I send AI voice or WhatsApp campaigns? A. No. Campaign Studio sends email and SMS. To call a customer, use Messages.
